Following a six-month programme of demolition and remediation, development has commenced on a 12-acre plot at Twinwoods Business Park near Bedford.

A number of redundant structures have been demolished to enable the refurbishment of an 80,000 sqft former warehouse, and to create a new national service centre for global supply chain giant, CHEP. The site will serve as a hub for CHEP sustainable pallet pooling operations, focusing on the storage, repair and reuse of pallets to minimise waste.

Representatives from Pigeon, Bedford Borough Council and the principal contractor, MJS Projects, attended a groundbreaking ceremony held last Friday to formally commence the construction phase.

Ben Guest, Director – Investment, remarked on the project milestone: “This is not a straightforward project and required a number of complex technical works to be undertaken to get us to this point. Construction of this important site for the regional economy represents a £40m+ investment in Bedford Borough and will generate more than 90 new jobs. Twinwoods is a preferred destination for a range of tenants, and our continued investment in the future of the park will see it ready to meet the future demands for economic growth in the region.”
